The multiverse is a concept which if we talk as in the movie point of view, is a way to show us different version of same character interacting which other in the real time, but if we talk about how studios sees it, it will be going to be way to them to revive there already good and bad franchise as for the purpose of making more money from the quality movies that already exist and fixing the mistake they does in some low fueled franchises like the 2015 Fantastic 4 movie from fox or Ben Affleck's Daredevil movie or the Black cat solo movie from WB or the Ghost rider franchise from Sony.
Multiverse is nothing but a tool for studios to use there old franchise to generate more and more revenue as in the form of cameos, references or some plots that continues the story of franchises in the new one. And as we already know that Marvel and Sony together Successfully revived 2 old spiderman franchise and DC is already on its way to try multiverse in his prime universe which DC's movie universe which is the flash movie, We can assume that other studios might also try to use the concept of multiverse for there already well established movies.
As if we talk about Warner Bros., it already owns a vast no. of franchises as totally by himself such as whole DC universe, Games from WB interactive, Matrix franchise, Conjuring Universe, Dark universe or in partnership with other studios such as Legendary studios such as Monster-verse or the Pacific Rim franchise , Newline cinemas, CW, HBO max and Many others. and same goes for Disney as they own Marvel, Star Wars, many many franchise of Fox studios and some franchise from Sony's marvel universe and as Sony the Spiderverse or other Marvel Universe.
The Possibilities are vast and these studios could use the concept of multiverse to merge there franchise to give audience a sort of fan service and different viewing experience such as DC's Constantine going into the Dark or conjuring Universe or DC using the concept of Nolan's movie Universe or Legendary making a Godzilla vs Pacific rim movie by using the concept of multiverse and as if we talk about Disney they can make there Live action Princess universe, or Can merge the avatar Universe in Star Wars Universe. They can also easily use the Fox marvel characters as well for there Marvel universe.
And if that's not enough the studios can make a crossover movies together, as we know its not impossible to do this is Sony and Marvel already doing this, the thing that Matter the most is how much they can earn and if the studios sees the possibility that the character from different universes owned by different studios can together make much amount of revenue they will definitely use it by using the concept of Multiverse.
The possibilities are endless and who knows someday we see a Marvel and DC crossover movie as it happened in the comics many. The biggest example of this is the Amalgum Comics, and not only the comics show the crossover between Marvel and DC but Marvel Shows its Crossover with the Transformers Universe and even with the god tier manga Attack on Titan and as for DC they does a crossover comic with the characters of Teenage Mutant Ninja turtle and in the Injustice 2 game the make the characters of Mortal combat fight with the DC characters.
There will also be the possibility that the character from games come into live action such as PS4 spiderman coming in the Spiderverse or Marvel Avengers game character coming in live action or Arkham series batman story continues in live action.
